The pool buildings, developed in 1973, were in need of a major and much needed refurbishment. Consultation on potential new improvements began in 2018 and in 2020 the new facilities were was complete. There was clear and strong support in the community to see:
Much improved changing rooms and showers
A new cafe and kitchen looking out onto the play area.
The total cost of the project was around £150,000. We were very fortunate to secure a £94,000 grant from the Cumbria Fells & Dales LEADER programme.
Buy a Brick
We held a successful “buy a brick” campaign where local residents and local businesses could sponsor the new pool buildings with their names now displayed at the pool.
A huge thank you to all who bought a brick – you helped make the refurbishment happen
This programme is supported by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and covered the period 2014 to 2020.
